North Shore Rescue

A happy ending to a drama that has simmered in all our minds over the past while. The dog walker has been found, after three days. She and her three pooches will be fine.

The gals and guys of the North Shore mountain rescue team are heroes. They carry on a long tradition of selflessness and determination of volunteers who bring their back-country skills – mostly at great personal hazard – to rescuing folks lost and stranded.

Here on the Sunshine Coast, reckless or unlucky people get into trouble on the water. Our search and rescue people – volunteers all – in concert with local mariners and the Coast Guard – are similarly brave, and effective.

Perhaps it is time to recognize these people in a formal way. Like funding. Like a formal recognition for what they do.
